D’BANJ BAGS MTV EUROPE MUSIC AWARDS’ BEST AFRICAN ACT

Nigerian Hip hop star D'banj has just been named the Best African Act for 2007 at the just concluded MTV Europe Music Awards. He is the second Nigerian to win this award after Tuface who clinched same in 2005. With this new feet, the 'Kokolet Master' D'banj, has added another feather to his cap being the 17

thaward he has won in two years.

He had contested the award with artistes like Samini, Jau Cali, Chameleone, and HHP and was thus named the best of them all, receiving his trophy from MTV base VJ Sizwe Dhlomo at the Olympia Hall in Munich.

It was an exciting day for the nominees of the Best African Act as they were seen to be rubbing shoulders on the red carpet with the biggest and best in the contemporary music industry, they include Wyclef Jean, Snoop Dogg, Avril Lavigne, Foo Fighter, Mika, My Chemical Romance, Nicole Scherzinger, and will.i.am, who all flew into Munich to be part of the prestigious awards ceremony, which was in its 14thyear.

The MTV Europe Music award was hosted by Snoop Dogg and the event was aired live on MTV and MTV base to DSTV audiences across Africa.
