NIGERIAN MUSICIANS SHOCKED OVER DUBE’S DEATH

Nigerian musicians have received with great shock, the news of the assassination of South African reggae star, Lucky Dube. Commenting on his death this morning, Fela's daughter, Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti, said she was shocked beyond words.

“I cannot believe this, because his manager was at the Shrine last Sunday and he told me that Lucky Dube said that he will be playing at the next edition of Felabration free.

“I am trying to get Femi on phone now so that I can tell him. Oh God! Imagine!” she moaned.

The singing son of the late I.K. Dairo, Paul Play I.K. Dairo, said it was also a shock to him “because we have lost one of Africa's music ambassadors.

“Oh my God! It is not big loss to West Africa or Africa alone but the entire world. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.

Controversial rap star, Ruggedman, said: “So South Africa is worse than Nigeria? What else can I say, he is dead. But his death is a great loss to the entire music world.

“We should also see his death as a turning point in the music industry, that is, everyone of us will die one day and that nobody lives for ever, no matter what you do, either good or bad.”

Reacting to the death of the reggae star Stella Monye, who is just recuperating from a typhoid attack, exclaimed: “It is a lie! No you cannot tell me he is dead! Is Africa turning into a jungle? Why are we killing one another? The last time, Tuface was shot in Nigeria and now Lucky Dube has been killed. This is unfair.”

Eedris Abdulkarim, who said that he had just heard the sad news, simply said: “May his soul rest in peace.”
