SUPREMACY WAR BETWEEN GENEVIEVE AND OMOTOLA

The war of supremacy in Nollywood between top stars, Genevieve Nnaji and Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde which remained unabated for a very long time reached a crescendo recently at the R70 fashion show tagged 'Stars on the Run way' held recently at the Lagoon Restaurant Victoria Island.

Our source reported that both stars who hate themselves with a passion would have had a serious fight at the event but for the timely intervention of friends and guests.

It was gathered that Genevieve and Omotola have been arch rivals in the movie industry and the grouse that made them not to see eye to eye started when their teeming fans started comparing both of them.

The first time was in 2002 when they both starred in 'Blood Sisters' a film produced and directed by Tchidi Chikere. That particular film in which both of them performed excellently seemed to divide movie buffs into two camps, each insisting that their heroine was a better actress.

After the movie came the ban in October 2004 which affected two of them. Genevieve took a bold step into the tough terrain of music and released an album within the twinkle of an eye, Omotola also released an album and this further fuelled insinuation of the feud between them and the struggle by one to outshine the other in every field.

However, both of them did not make a dime from their musical efforts and it became obvious that they have no talent whatsoever in that field. Industry watchers had not yet stopped talking about their music when the Lux advert campaign came up.

It was gathered that the makers of the toilet soap had gone all out to ask the public who their favourite star was giving Omotola, Genevieve, Agbane Derego and Oluchi Onweagba as options. All fingers had without much ado pointed at Genevieve, thereby making her the face of Lux and an international star.

But, as it stands now, Omotola has got a big time chance to be on bill boards all over the country as the face of Hollandia Milk, a product of clic industries. As their fans put it, “she has got even with Genevieve, so she should be happy”.

Genevieve Nnaji's name is a recurring decimal in Nollywood, she is already established as a sex symbol and has reached the pinnacle of her career as far as movie making is concerned.

She made her entry into Nollywood via 'most wanted, a movie produced by Ralph Nwadike in 1998. According to her it wasn't easy to fully break into Nollywood because she started at a time when only light complexioned actresses stood a chance. It was not until she played lead role in 'Ijele' an epic film that she shot to the limelight.

The single mother of one has starred in over 500 films ever since and at some point, any movie with Genny's face became an instant sell out while any one without her face bombed woefully. Thus made producers go guga and willing to pay anything to have her grace their movies. This turn made her one of the highest paid actresses of all time.

Omotola on her part blazed from a humble beginning into the Thespian World through the hit movie, “Mortal Inheritance” for which she carted home several awards at the Reel Awards next was 'Daybreak', The Chico Ejiro black buster that got everyone awake and alert in 1997.

The pretty girlie mother of four is married to an upwardly mobile pilot who apart from loving the very ground she treads, also fully supports her career and overlooks whatever gossip her detractors come up with. He recently presented her with an overwhelming Lincoln Navigator.

Her success in the entertainment industry include several block buster movies, her album 'Gba' her recent modeling career among others. To say she has made it in the industry is stating the obvious. Omo sexy as she is fondly called would remain relevant in the industry for a long time to come.
