Barely five months after the death of her mother, Ochiedike Hope Onwenu, Onyeka Onwenu's only brother has also passed on. Her elder brother, Richard Onwenu, an accountant, died on Saturday, the 9th of June 2012 after a brief illness.

Burial proceedings for the deceased has been sent out. There will be a wake keeping session on Thursday, the 9th of August at Hon. D.K Onwenu's compound in Ndianichie Obinetiti, Arondizougu, Imo State, followed by the burial on Friday 10, 12 after a Church service at St. Andrew's. May his soul rest in peace…amen
