MEET THE POPULAR SKIN-TONING NOLLYWOOD ACTRESSES

By Bayo Adetu

These are movie actresses are quite outstanding in their careers. They have contributed immensely to the development of the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood. Though some of them are naturally light in complexion, they have in one way or the other boosted their natural complexion by using skin-toning creams. NollywoodReel writes about some of these talents who have toned their skins.

Modupe Johnson a.k.a. Fali Werepe: This popular Yoruba actress obviously leads the pack of all skin-toning actresses both in the English and Yoruba genres of the industry. Although she disappeared from the movie scene a few years back, leaving her fans and movie buffs in doubt whether she was in limbo or not, 'Fali Werepe', as she is fondly called, quickly regained her lost glory when she returned in 2004.
Her passion for skin-toning can be attributed to the pigmentation on her skin.

Fausat Balogun a.k.a. Madam Saje: This is another notable Yoruba actress who has proved her dexterity through proper delivery of roles. Although less fancied by most movie watchers, Madam Saje's versatility has shot her to the peak of her career. But one thing worth mentioning about her is that, just like she has a huge passion for acting, she also has the same degree of passion for using skin-toning creams.

Nike Peller: When you mention talented and successful actresses in Nollywood, Nike Peller, daughter of the late popular magician, Professor Peller, is one of them. Although many had believed that the pretty actress was living on her late father's fame, she had since proved her mettle in the make-believe industry. She is also one of the many actresses who like using toning creams.
Though she has just returned from holy pilgrimage to Mecca, which gives her a new status as 'Alhaja', a source very close to the versatile actress disclosed during a chat with NollywoodReel that she still has an extraordinary passion for keeping her skin light. The source further stated that she does not mind spending several minutes in her bedroom toning her lovely skin.

Alexandria Lopez: This is another notable actress who has proved her mettle in the industry through the mean roles she enjoys playing in movies. Apart from smoking which can be described as her second passion, applying toning creams on her smooth skin is also her favourite pastime.

Toyin Adegbola (Asewo To Re Mecca): No doubt, Toyin Adegbola, is a prolific actress and she is highly respected among her peers. She is currently the deputy governor of the Oyo State Chapter of Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) and through her versatility, she has earned a 'most wanted' status for herself in the make-believe industry.
She made her mark after the shooting of Asewo To Re Mecca, a flick which gave her prominence in the early 1990s. Since then, she has become the toast of many, while her shiny skin could be attributed to toning creams, which she best describes as 'smoothening lotions'. She flaunts her attractive skin in flicks.

Hassanat Taiwo Akinwande a.k.a. Yetunde Wunmi: Obviously, Yetunde Wunmi, had been in the limelight through her dexterity in acting until her fame took a dive when she got herself enmeshed in a drug trafficking deal which consequently led to her conviction. Before and after her ordeal, her passion for using skin-toning cream has remained unshaken, just like her acting.

Lola Alao-Ogunlana: The Kogi State-born actress is also among Nollywood actresses that have tattoos and use skin-toning creams to enhance their beauty.

Iyabo Ojo:One of the many things this actress, also a tattoo freak and mother of two, considers necessary for looking good, is skin-toning. Even some of her friends, a source disclosed, have warned her against this passion that she nurses so intensely.

Tayo Odueke a.k.a. Sikiratu Sindodo: This fast rising actress and mother of two, who has three movies to her credit, is one of the young actresses who believe that caring for a good skin also requires toning it.

Shade Omoniyi-Kazeem a.k.a. Lepa Shandy: Having played a major role in the Lepa Shandy flick a few years ago, this skinny actress is fast becoming one of the most sought after actresses in the movie industry, particularly in the Yoruba genre. Apart from being skinny, one of her beautiful attributes, her light complexion complements her looks. This she enhances occasionally by the skin-toning cream she uses.

Steph-Nora Okere-Falana: Married to a film maker, Lanre Falana, she has no doubt made her mark in moviedom. Due to her spectacular performance among those regarded as 'Igbo actresses', she has equally secured her a place among the Yoruba movie practitioners. Sources close to her also disclosed to Nollywood Reel that one of her ways of caring for a good skin is using toning lotions.
