eLDee Those who have followed recent happenings in the house of music can at least heave a sigh of relief. Why, you may ask. Well, one of the contemporary key players in the Nigerian music industry, eLDee has recently opened up on the concern of young generation of singers for the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN).
According to eLDee, though he and other young crooners are not happy with the intrigues that played out during PMAN's meeting in Oshogbo early this year, they do not intend to form another music body. “We have no intention of forming a new musicians association. We went to Oshogbo asking to be involved in PMAN's activities, but they said we were being used by Tony Okoroji to come and collect the money the Federal Government promised to pump into the entertainment industry. Can you see the type of mentality they have?”
Rather than form a new singers' union, the performing artiste/producer, who is also the boss of Trybes Records, disclosed he and other contemporary acts will only serve as a pressure group. “Since they don't want us involved, we will continue to act as a pressure group and continue to pursue our right to copyright protection and payment of royalties as a pressure group,” he said.
Meanwhile, associates who are still skeptical of the news of Tayo Aderinokun's death have offered prayers for his recovery as he turns 57 today (8/4/2011) from the month-long coma in the UK hospital. A Blackberry message circulated to the media last weekend read 'it's Uncle T's b'day. Pls pray for him to God to give him a healing birthday package'
