I've recently been innhktig about disparities in wealth between white families and black families in the context of both a documentary I just saw (Race: The Power of an Illusion) and in planning to buy our first home. Obviously, this is not our main concern (that would be money), but we are somewhat deciding between a put-together tiny house in a desirable town (very integrated) not necessarily in the best part of this town, but not a bad street by any means and a large, needs some work home in a less trendy (read: integrated)area. I keep innhktig about how much more money the large house will be worth once it has had some (relatively low key) work done to it. AND its on a very nice street. Diversity is not a huge factor here, because both places are relatively diverse. For me, the main thing is: do we go for easy or do we go for a potentially better investment that could assist in our son's future?
