By Hauwa Gambo

Mr. O (Onome Ovwori) is a jazz artist who has been playing the keyboard from the age of six. As he grew older, he honed his talent by playing in churches and live concerts. He describes his perfect blend of music as “a mix of jazz, world beat, gospel and R&B”.

Onome's debut album, “Time” was released in April 2009, and it includes a rich range of performances by Gregory Kilpatrick, D'Amadeus, Dennis Hilliman, Jumbo Ane, Jim Farkas and RealEyez. He looks up to Ramsey Lewis, Wayman Tisdale, Hugh Masekela, Joe Sample and Lenny LeBlanc for musical inspiration.

“Naija Man is a fusion of Jazz on Hiphop that talks about Nigeria's strength, challenges and proffer solutions,” Mr O says. The video for the single, Naija Man was shot on location in New Jersey and was directed by Katung Aduwak (of Big Brother Nigeria).

The husband of one and father of three, who also plays the drums and the bass guitar, has collaborated with several artists, and has performed with Deitrick Haddon, alongside Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Helen Baylor, and Lionel Peterson. Onome is also a songwriter and producer.

He is currently working on his sophomore album, and EP titled Mon Jade
