Onyeka Onwenu sings for Abuja

Pop diva, Onyeka Onwenu is set to wax a special song entitled, "City on the Hill" to mark the 30th anniversary of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Blockbuster learnt that the video of "City on the Hill" will hit TV screens across the country in November. Says Onyeka; "The song pays tribute to Abuja, the city that has become home to Nigerians from the east, west, north and south. The creation of "City on the Hill" has been a labour of love and I find great joy in contributing to the successful celebration of the founding of the beautiful city of Abuja which to me is an important Nigerian dream that is fulfilled."

The telecast of "City on the Hill" is expected to wet the appetite of the populace for the special Gala/Award Night holding on December 14, 2006 at the Abuja International Conference Center.

One of the highlights of the night, which will have President Olusegun Obasanjo as the Guest of Honour, will be a live rendition of "City on the Hill" by Onyeka and several other top singers from across the nation. Apart from a number of international celebrities expected in Abuja for the event, global oil sheiks and top delegates to the first OPEC Ministerial Conference to hold in Nigeria will also be entertained at the epic show dubbed "Night of the Melting Pot."

Nothing is being left to chance to make the Gala Night a life time event as the best artistes, comperes, fashion designers, choreographers and producers are being assembled from across the country to showcase Abuja as an international city that has come of age.

Another highlight of the night will be the presentation of special awards to individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to the growth of Abuja . The Special Task Team led by Tony Okoroji has promised that during the night, President Olusegun Obasanjo, members of the Federal Executive Council and top officers of the Legislative and Judiciary will be treated to the best in Nigerian entertainment. "All guests will wine and dine in the finest style.

The Gala Night will be a night of first class cuisine, fashion, style, beauty and many enduring moments. Certainly, it will be a night that will be talked about for many years to come," Okoroji boasts.
