ARTISTES, film producers and marketers in Edo state have threatened to take the law into their hands and storm Benin-City, the state capital violently next week if the police fail to arrest and bring to justice killers of two Benin based local artistes who were murdered by unknown gunmen about three months ago.

The two artistes, Erhauyi Ogbeide (alias Ukeke) and Eghosa Idehen (alias Erhejiro) were shot dead by unknown gunmen shortly after the duo were allegedly invited by the father in-law of Ogbeide in his residence along Oreoghene street, Benin.

Carrying placards with various inscriptions such as “where are the killers of Ukeke and Erhejiro”?, Governor Oshiomhole, please help us, we want justice” and Wetin Police dey do?”, Artists, Film Producers and Marketers decked in black attires, yesterday stormed the premises of the Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ), in Benin to address newsmen on their plan.

President of Edo State Artists Forum, Mr. Enofe Igbinomwanhia explained that they had reported the incident to the police when their colleagues were murdered because they did not want to go violent.

He disclosed that the police later arrested the parents of two suspected killers of the artistes and charged them to Magistrate Court 4 in Benin, but that surprisingly, they were told at the court that the case was not pending there.

Also addressing journalists, President of Edo State Film Producers and Marketers, Mr. Jerry Love, alleged that the two brothers' killers of the two artistes were roaming the streets of Benin freely without the police making any effort to arrest them, adding that though the police promised too declare them wanted, they are yet to do so.

“We want the police take action or we would take the action from them. By next week we would seize Benin if nothing is done”, he threatened.

Among the protesters were the two wives of Eghosa Idehen and his five little children who were crying and were being consoled.
