David and Victoria Beckham have reportedly been banned from having sex following the Achilles tendon surgery which ruled him out of the World Cup.

..According to the Daily Star Sunday, Becks will wear an Aircast boot which will allow him to walk once the plaster is removed from his foot and speed up his recovery.

However, there is a drawback.

"The boot means David can actually walk without risking a re-rupture once his plaster has been removed," the paper quoted a source close to Beckham as saying.

"But there are major disadvantages, including having to wear it in bed. As a result he has to lie flat on his back in bed and not move, otherwise he could cause further damage.

"So there'll certainly be no action between the sheets with Victoria until it comes off."

The boot may have to be worn for up to three months, and Beckham, 34, will also be unable to shower properly during that period.

"He's also been told that it's strip washes all the way for the next three months, depending on how well the injury repairs," the source added.

There is light at the end of the tunnel for the LA Galaxy wide man, who is privately desperate to feature for Britain in the 2012 Olympics.

The Games will be held only a few miles from where he grew up in Leytonstone.

"David is one of the most determined sportsmen you could ever meet," the source continued. "His injury has been a huge let-down and he's gutted about the World Cup but he has no desire to walk away from the game.

"He sees himself getting back on top, heading out to London and doing his best to win gold.

"The big players on the British Olympic Committee want him to play in the tournament as they see it as a fitting tribute to all he has done.

"David has been careful not make a big deal of it but that is a realistic goal now.

"He's already a national hero - so if he banked the gold in front of his home crowd that would send his popularity into orbit."
