I Donated N200 Million To Scholarship Scheme In 2005 – Femi Otedola
Billionaire Businessman Femi Otedola has shared a throwback moment from 2005, when he donated N200 million to the Sir Michael Otedola Scholarship Scheme.
According to him, the event, which took place 21 years ago, was chaired by the then Governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who now serves as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In a post on his Instagram page, Otedola recalled the ceremony and noted that the scholarship scheme was founded by his late father in 1987. He emphasised his family's continued commitment to investing in education and described the donation as part of their legacy.
He also reflected on the true meaning of wealth, stating that it is not measured by what one keeps but by the lives one changes.
He wrote:
"Throwback Thursday. 21 years ago today (in 2005) then Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, chaired the Sir Michael Otedola Scholarship Scheme Award Ceremony. Today His Excellency now serves as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
In the ceremony I donated N200,000,000 (two hundred million naira only) to the scholarship scheme founded by my late father in 1987, continuing our family's commitment to investing in the education.
True wealth is not measured by what we keep, but by the lives we change."
