In Nigeria, You Have To Tone Down Your Intellect To Succeed – Deyemi Okanlawon
Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has shared his thoughts on the Nigerian society, describing it as a place where mediocrity thrives over excellence.
Speaking on the Dear Ife podcast, he noted that being too serious or professional does not always guarantee success in the country.
The Yoruba actor stated that he has realized the need to tone down his intellect to succeed in Nigeria. He also observed that those who act the most unserious often succeed the most, adding that in a country where mediocrity reigns, one cannot afford to be too serious.
He said:
"In a country where mediocrity reigns, you can't be too serious. I was joked that you can't be too professional as succeed in Nigeria. Those who act the most unserious succeed the most.
