‎Popular Nigerian lawyer, Stan Alieke, has urged the federal government to legalize guns in the wake of the recent Benue killings.

‎Recall that The Nigerian Voice reported that around 200 people were killed in an attack on Yelwata, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State

‎Following the killings, many well-meaning Nigerians have been criticizing the government for failing to address the incessant killings, with many celebrities joining the public in calling out the government.

‎Taking to his Instagram story, Stan stressed that since government has failed in its duty of protecting the citizens, the legalization of guns for private ownerships should be considered.

‎He emphasized that the Benue crisis and other killings in other states have been going on for so long without any solution from the government.

‎He wrote:
‎"Since the government has failed abysmally in protecting the citizens it's time the govn't considers legalizing guns for private ownerships so that the citizens can protect themselves by themselves. This Benue crisis and other regional killings have lingered for so long, seeming like an everyday occurrence and the govn't seems incapacitated."
