Gender Discrimination Should Not Exist In Movie Industry – Actor Tobi Bakre
Nollywood actor Tobi Bakre has weighed into the movie industry, addressing the pressing issue of gender discrimination.
Speaking on the Mentality podcast hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, the media personality asserted that anyone in the movie industry with the mindset of refusing to work with women is unprepared for growth.
According to Bakre, he has worked with both genders in the movie industry, especially the female gender, and they have contributed immensely to his career success.
He maintained that he doesn't factor any gender talks into his roles, stressing that several women in the movie industry share the mindset of growth, and downplay ego in order to achieve career success.
He said:
“If you don’t want to work with a woman, I don’t believe you’re ready to grow in life. Women are so powerful. Thank God for women. In my industry particularly, I have worked with women and I’ve worked more with women. I don’t see gender.
“For me, work is work because I came into the industry with the thirst to get stuff done. Let’s get the work done. Let’s shoot the shots. Let’s create. If I want to jump, how high can I jump?. A lot of the women I worked with welcomed that mentality with open arms. There was no ego."
