The Nigerian movie industry has been thrown into a sorrowful mood following the death of its top star, actor Alexx Ekubo, at the age of 40.

The tragic news was disclosed by some of his colleagues, including Funke Akindele and Bolanle Ninalowo.

Taking to her Instagram page, an emotional Akindele revealed that she tried reaching out to him one more time, however, it was impossible. She recounted their friendship, urging him to rest in peace.

“Hmmmmmm. Rest in peace, Alex. I tried to reach out to see you one more time, but I guess you knew best. May your kind soul rest in peace, Alex. ‘Ore mi like you fondly called me, I will always remember and cherish the good times we shared together. Rest in Peace, Alex."

Expressing his condolences, Bolanle Ninalowo mourned the late actor, urging him to rest in peace, while praying for strength for his family.

"Rest on, Alex. May God heal your family and us all."
