Mercy Aigbe Calls Out Instagram Over Reduction In Followers
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mercy Aigbe, has called out social media platform, Instagram, over the reduction in the number of her followers.
Recently, a widely circulated post on social media indicated that Instagram initiated a massive, platform-wide bot purge, aimed at cleaning up fake, spam, and long-inactive accounts to enhance engagement accuracy and platform authenticity.
Joining a host of celebrities to complain about the platform's new move, Mercy Aigbe took to her Instagram page to bemoan the reduction of her followers from 11.6 million to 11.1 million followers.
She further lamented about being stuck on the former number of followers for 3 years, yet the platform went ahead to clear off 500 from the unmoving number.
Aigbe, bothered by the change, questioned the platform for the reason behind the drastic reduction.
She wrote:
"From 11.6 to 11.1 million followers at this point Instagram I don’t understand again oh. Meanwhile I have kuku being stuck on that 11.6 for 3 years now. Now Una don commot 500.
"Yesterday they took it to 11.3, this morning now it’s 11.1, 😭😭 ... what’s going on ??."
