Veteran Actor Roy De Nani Makes Jarring Revelation About Challenges In Nollywood
Veteran Nollywood actor Roy De Nani, has made a jarring revelation about his career in the Nigerian movie industry, and how it was marred with several challenges.
Speaking in a candid episode of the 'Where is the lie' podcast, the actor opened up on how he was blacklisted from getting acting roles in the movie industry.
He also shared a painful experience, revealing that following the death of his biological brother, none of his colleagues showed up to commiserate with him.
Roy De Nani also shared his person tragedy where he lost his son and daughter, who were both sickle cell warriors to death. He disclosed that his inability to afford an urgent blood transfusion led to their untimely death.
The emotional actor noted that throughout the torrid period, Nollywood never showed any support.
He said:
“A man gave an order that nobody should give Roy De Nani a job again. For years, even when I was already recording, a producer would come in and say, ‘No, cancel it. Stop.’”
"I have a brother from the same father. When he died, not a single actor or actress showed up."
"I lost my son, I lost my daughter because they needed blood transfusion so they could continue living, but there was no money to buy the blood, and they died."
"Nollywood never came to assist me. Not that they don’t care, but they have not been touched. Let it be said that way."
