Senegalese-American rapper Aliaune Badara Thiam, popularly known as Akon, has shared his view on polygamy, and why he strongly believes in it.

Speaking in a now-viral interview on 'The Shade Room,' the superstar revealed that during his involvement with many women, he had life easier.

According to him, committing to one woman made it harder.

Akon, while responding to the question about his current relationship status, and the number of women he is romantically involved with, declined to respond.

He said:
“My life was a lot easier when I had multiple women surrounding me. It is a lot harder with just one woman."

"I plead the fifth; it will be incriminating to answer."

Recall that Akon's wife, Tomeka Thiam, filed for a dissolution of marriage after 28 years of marriage, in September 2025, on the grounds of irreconcilable differences.
