Kunle Afolayan Bemoans Hike In Fuel Price; Appeals For Financial Assistance
Renowned filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, has bemoaned the recent hike in fuel prices, and how it has continued to cripple finances to run his business.
The award-winning filmmaker, who also owns KAP Film Village and Resort, took to social media to utter his recent challenges. He shared how the increased cost of diesel has been affecting his business.
According to him, one of his businesses, KAP Village incurs N11 million monthly on diesel, despite possessing solar power.
"I’ve been sad because I can’t cope with the N1,500 per litre of diesel. In one of the businesses that we run, the KAP Village, we spend about N11m in four or five weeks on diesel. And we have solar power, but we’re still spending about N11m."
He also shared how he has been taking diesel on loan, which is repaid once his business makes profit. He stressed that the timeframe for repayment could be up to two months, however, the recent hike has truncated the sustainability of such move.
“The diesel we’ve been buying, we’ve been buying on credit. When we make small money, we find a way to pay. Sometimes it takes two months to even pay down and then get another one on credit. But now from about N1,000 or N995 to N1,500, it’s not sustainable."
Speaking about his solar power, Afolayan admitted that he has to work on it, appealing to the public for financial assistance.
"If you can come to our aid, I’ll really appreciate."
Kunle Afolayan's complaints joins the train of Nigerians who have been berating the government for the increased costs of purchasing fuel and diesel, amid the dwindling state of power supply across the country.
His complaints was further ignited following the Dangote Petroleum Refinery recent diesel price to N1,620 per litre.
