"Whatever You Share On Social Media Is A Reflection Of Who You Are" – Lawyer Stan Alieke
Nigerian lawyer Stan Alieke, has weighed in on the issue of previous social media tweets, and how he strongly believes that they are a clear representation of the personality of the individual.
The Abuja-based lawyer took to his Instagram story to drop his take, amid the ongoing scrutiny that has trailed singer Simi's previous tweets on the microblogging platform, X (formerly known as Twitter).
He revealed that during the process of employing an individual – social media is one of the criteria he uses in assessing the identity of the individual.
Alieke emphasized that he is strongly of the view that whatever is put out on social media is "a reflection of who you are." He also cited how countries' embassies make background check by checking the social media before granting any individual a visa.
He further asserted that there is nothing as "cruise" on social media post, as the content of an individual is a mirror of the person.
He wrote:
"Before I employ anybody I usually ransack through their social media pages/posts to see the kind of things they post or the kind of opinions they share on social media. I’m a firm believer that whatever you share on social media is a reflection of who you are. In the same way, some countries' embassies check each applicant's social media pages to determine if they can grant the person a visa or not. All these whole “my social media is just for cruise, what I post there is different from who I am in person” is just a lie you tell yourself."
The Nigerian Voice recalls that Simi, who recently condemned the act of raping women in response to the allegations made by Tiktoker Mirabel, became a subject of public ridicule as some of her old tweets on X (formerly Twitter) were dug up, and have since caused uproar on the microblogging platform.
Simi, however, issued a clarification statement on X on Sunday, February 22, stating that her tweets were never from a place of perversion, and the deletion of some of those tweets were done by her team due to the sensitiveness of it for her family.
She further emphasized her unwavering stance against rape, stressing that she has been doing that before fame.
