"Let's Help People The Church Cannot Reach" - Toke Makinwa Gives Verdict On Paying Tithes
Popular media personality, Toke Makinwa, has dropped her opinion on the issue of paying tithes to church, and what should be done instead.
The former OAP, while speaking in an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, revealed that she has long weighed the option of paying her tithes to the church.
According to her, the church has already been invested in by several individuals, and even the pastors have received substantial financial support from others, hence, channeling her resources help should be to the needy.
The mother of one also cited an instance of how she previously gave all the money she made from a brand endorsement deal to the church, however, she has known better, and instead makes sure to fend for the needy that the church cannot reach.
She said:
"I started thinking, if I have money and someone tells me they need it to pay rent, why should I pass it into a building that’s already rich.
I would rather give my tithe to strangers who tell me their actual needs. The church is built. The pastors have money. Let’s help people the church cannot reach.
“Seven years ago, I didn’t touch one naira from an endorsement deal; I carried it all into the church. Now, I give where it directly helps someone in need."
