“If Your Presence Feels Heavy, It's Because You're Still Avoiding Your Own Truth” - Toke Makinwa Sends Message To Unidentified Individual
Popular Nigerian media personality and actress, Toke Makinwa, has sent a strong message to an unidentified individual. The former OAP, in a post on her Instagram story, sent a strong message to an unidentified individual, who has refused to let go of issues.
Sending a clear message, Makinwa emphasized that the individual should not try to mess up her peace because of their inability to find their peace. She stated that she is not responsible for the chaos that the individual has refused to heal from, stressing how she has put in serious efforts to protect her energy, unlearn toxic patterns, and build the kind of peace she has always longed for.
The mother of one reiterated that the individual is responsible for their growth, and she is not ready to carry the burden that the individual has refused to come to terms with. She added that what is paramount to her now is protecting her peace, urging the individual to do the same or keep their distance.
She wrote:
“Don't come fuck up my peace because you can't find yours. I'm not responsible for the chaos you refuse to heal from. I've worked too hard to protect my energy, to unlearn toxic patterns, and to build the kind of peace I used to pray for. So if you're still at war with yourself, don't bring that battle to my door. Healing is your job. Growth is your responsibility. I'm not here to carry what you're not willing to confront. Protecting my peace isn't selfish, it's survival. If your presence feels heavy, it's because you're still avoiding your own truth. Do the work or keep your distance.”
In another post, Toke Makinwa recounted how she used to accept a lot of nonsense in order to keep people in her life, including being silent, facing disrespect, and putting in efforts from only her end. She stressed that the version of keeping quiet to ensure peace is over, revealing that she has learnt to let go of those who don't value her.
She wrote:
“When I look back, I'm stunned by how much I accepted just to keep people in my life the silence, the disrespect, the one-sided effort. I stayed quiet to avoid conflict, dimmed myself to make others comfortable. That version of me is gone.
I've learned that losing people who don't value me is not a loss - it's freedom.
I'll never betray myself like that again.”
