Meet Awoko, Asaba-based fuji artiste
Awoko in Yoruba language, Awoko is the name of a bird noted for its sonorous voice but in Asaba, a young fuji act has changed his name to Awoko, obviously because of his sonorous voice.
Awoko, whose real name is Ibrahim Balogun Akande, hails from Oyo town and has settled in Asaba, the Delta State capital for the past eight years, entertaining his fans in that part of the country.
Although he sings a genre only popular in the South West part of the country but Awoko said his ability to speak their language has given him much advantage that he has so many fans now and also performs at several functions of the non-Yorubas residing in Delta State.
The young fuji act is working on his album and he hopes to release it before the year runs out.
