"My Exit From MAVIN Wasn't A Conflict Situation" - Reekado Banks Reveals
Nigerian songwriter and singer, Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon, professionally known as Reekado Banks, has revealed that his exit from MAVIN records was purely mutual.
The 'Overloaded' crooner, made this revelation during a recent interview with reality star, Teddy A, on the Echo Room, he shared that he decided to quit the award-winning record label, headed by popular music executive, Don Jazzy, following the expiration of his contract.
Describing his exit, he noted that spending a total of five years in MAVIN records, and deciding to build his own imprint wasn't easy, as he realized immediately he started handling his music business, that his exit was premature.
He further emphasized that he never had any conflict with the label before his exit.
"It [my exit from Mavin Records] wasn’t a conflict situation. I was pretty young and pretty fixated on what I wanted to do -I wanted to leave. Anyways, my contract has ended two years prior. I signed a three-year contract and I allowed it to ride for another two years. So, I was there for five years without reviewing the contract.
“So, when it was time, I thought I wanted to do this [leave] now. I thought I could do it now. I just embarked on the journey, as many people would view it, prematurely. As soon as I jumped into the sea as well, I realised how premature it was."
Recall that Reekado Banks gained traction following his contract with MAVIN records, and during his contract, the singer won awards including Rookie of the Year at The Headies 2014, and receiving the controversial Next Rated award at The Headies 2015.
The singer exited the record label upon the expiration of his contract in 2018, to launch his own imprint, Banks Music.
