"President Tinubu Has No Power Whatsoever To Suspend A Sitting Governor" - Daniel Regha
Popular celebrity tormentor and social media commentator Daniel Regha, has reacted to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's decision to suspend Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
Regha stressed that the president has no power whatsoever to implement such a decision as suspending a sitting governor. He noted that Governor Fubara was constitutionally elected according to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and as such, can only be removed through impeachment.
He, however blamed Governor Fubara for all the political drama that has plagued Rivers state, and attributed it to weakness on his part.
Daniel Regha wrote on X:
"Tinubu has no power whatsoever to suspend a sitting governor; Fubara was ELECTED (according to INEC), therefore can only be removed through impeachment. I blame Fubara for all this happening in Rivers State, he shows too much weakness otherwise the likes of Wike willn't have a say in his govt."
The Nigerian Voice recalls that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday, March 18, officially declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Deputy Governor for six months.
Similarly, members of the state house of assembly were also suspended for the same duration.
President Tinubu cited the lingering crisis in the state for the action.
He subsequently nominated Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) as Administrator to take charge of the affairs of the state with immediate effect.
