Iyabo Ojo Fires Back at Naira Marley Over Leaked Chat Screenshots Amid Mohbad Controversy

By Oluwarantimi Oludase

Popular Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has reacted to Marlian Music boss Naira Marley after he shared screenshots of their private conversation on social media.

The Nigerian Voice recalls that Iyabo Ojo has been vocal about seeking justice for former Marlian Records signee Mohbad, who died on September 12, 2023. To date, the cause of the singer's death remains unclear, though fingers have been pointed at his former label boss, Naira Marley, and his associate, Sam Larry.

Surprisingly, a few hours ago, Naira Marley shared screenshots of his personal conversations with Iyabo Ojo on social media. The screenshots suggest that the duo had some form of business relationship in the past.

Reacting to Naira Marley's actions, Iyabo Ojo addressed the issue in a lengthy post on her Instagram page. She stated that since Naira Marley had made their conversations public, she felt compelled to clarify certain points.

She revealed that she has promoted various artists, including Naira Marley. Specifically, she mentioned promoting one of Naira Marley's songs in 2020 after his team reached out to her through her son, Festus.

Weighing in on the late Mohbad's case, Iyabo Ojo stated that she questioned Naira Marley over his inaction when disturbing videos and petitions alleged that Sam Larry had bullied Mohbad, a young artist who tragically lost his life.

Emphasizing her stance against injustice, Iyabo Ojo reiterated that she would not turn a blind eye to wrongdoing, even if it involves someone she is close to.

Iyabo Ojo wrote on Instagram:
"Naira Marley recently shared our old chats, and I'd like to address some points.

As a TikTok sensation, I've promoted various artists' songs, including Naira Marley. In 2020, I promoted his song after his team contacted me through my son Festus.

Naira Marley thanked me via DM, and I also invited him to my movie premiere and my mother's burial party.

As someone who supports emerging artists, I've helped many young musicians promote their work. I've allowed them to use my lounge for shows, promoted their songs on TikTok, or introduced them to music producers like Naira Marley. For example, Fabian was signed by Naira Marley but left due to personal issues, and my nephew's music style didn't align with Naira Marley's label.

However, when disturbing videos and petitions alleged that Sam Larry, Naira Marley's friend, bullied Mohbad, a young artist who tragically lost his life, I questioned Naira Marley's inaction. I never accused him of killing Mohbad, but the evidence suggests Mohbad's life was threatened.

My issue with Naira Marley stems from his failure to intervene in Mohbad's bullying. Furthermore, I've been made aware of allegations regarding Naira Marley's involvement in other disturbing incidents, which will be addressed in court if necessary.

I won't turn a blind eye to injustice, even if it involves someone I'm close to. I interact with many celebrities via DM, including Vice Versa, and I won't hesitate to speak out against injustice, regardless of our past interactions. Naira Marley, you were mistaken if you thought I'd stay silent.

Labake Olododo is coming to Cinemas on March 28th, 2025.
