I Am Quitting Pageantry, Chidimma Adetshina Declares
Popular beauty queen and current Miss Universe runner-up, Chidimma Adetshina, has declared that she is quitting pageantry.
Chidimma, who also holds the title of Miss Universe Africa and Oceania, revealed her decision to quit pageantry during a recent interview with Silverbird TV. She described pageantry as a traumatic experience.
Furthermore, she explained her decision to quit is down to personal reasons, including planning to establish herself and further her education. She also revealed her decision to move away from her home country, South Africa to reside in Nigeria.
Chidimma said:
Finishing in the top 2 [at the Miss Universe competition] is still a shocker for me… Honestly, I am done. Pageantry was a real traumatic experience for me."
“People still don’t understand how I felt. There were times when I almost quit during the Miss Universe contest. I’m really done with pageantry. I want to focus on myself and establish who I am. And forward my education as well.”
