335 Foreign Filmmakers Storm Nigeria For 6th Abuja Film Festival

As the 6th edition of the annual Abuja International Film Festival continues to gather momentum, at least 355 foreign filmmakers have expressed their keen desire to storm the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria for the fanfare.

Scheduled to hold between 23 and 25 September at the Shehu Musa Yar'Adua Centre and Cyprian Ekwensi Cultural Centre respectively, the festival has so far attracted entries from over 50 countries. At least, 355 foreign filmmakers and over 2,000 other participants have shown interest and are planning to storm Nigeria soon.

The festival is organised in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Information and Communication, National Film and Video Censors Board, Nigerian Film Corporation, Nigerian Intellectual Property Commission and the Nigerian Television Authority.

According to the festival director, Fidelis Duker, the festival has so far receive over 107 entries from around the world and has gone further to enlarge its advisory board to include relevant government agencies and learned practitioners from the media and Public Relations world.

He added that the festival has incorporated a music forum where notable and upcoming artistes will entertain the visitors and delegates during the event.

A Nollywood Achievement Award segment has also been added to the annual event. This is to honour stakeholders who have contributed annually to developing and improving the sector since inception.

NollywoodReel gathered that for the award categories, the organisers have started accepting entries for films in the following categories, feature, short, documentary, and experimental films produced within the last 24 months.
