Mikel Obi Gets 3 Match Ban, £60,000 Fine For Mark Clattenburg Threats
The English Football Association known as the FA has slammed Nigerian and Chelsea FC player, John Obi Mikel with a three-match ban and a £60,000 fine for allegedly threatening Mark Clattenburg, who officiated the between Manchester United and Chelsea on October 28, 2012.
The FA handed out this punishment to Mikel in a statement released today after investigating the alleged racial abuse made by Mikel on him by the referee. Mikel reportedly threatened the referee in the dressing room.
Mikel had admitted a charge made by the FA on him which reduced his punishment to the one gave out to him today. The FA had earlier disclosed that Mark had no case to answer on the allegation against him. Before then, he (Mark) had missed four weekends without officiating any FA matches.
