Popular Afrobeats star, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has hailed himself as responsible for the creation of Afrobeats category to some international awards.

The singer emphasized that his hit song "Calm Down" opened doors for the addition of Afrobeats category to international awards.

Rema made this known on The Breakfast Club’, where he further reiterated that he is currently on the same level as Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy..

He said:
“I don’t want to feel like an Afrobeats Messiah. Sometimes I can’t wait for the OGs to say it but since no one is saying it, I might have to say it myself,”

"Respect to the OGs but yeah, I am one of the Big 4… Something as little as a major award shows creating an Afrobeats category because the success of my song has already opened gates.”
