Despite Putting Nigeria On The Global Stage, The Entertainment Industry Is Not In The Plans Of The Government – Ali Baba
Popular veteran stand-up comedian, Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, fondly known as Ali Baba, has berated the government for not considering the entertainment industry in its plan, despite the efforts by the entertainment industry.
He stated that the effort that the entertainment industry, especially musicians have put in making Nigeria a global force in the world, the government does not have any plan for them.
Ali Baba made his point known in an interview with Channels Television, where he stated that even the ambassadors that represent Nigeria are doing next to nothing in putting Nigeria on the global stage, compared to what people in the entertainment industry have done.
He said;
“Two years ago, a forecast of the Nigerian economy in the next five years was looked into by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group and the entertainment and creative industry was not considered.
“A booklet of about 200 pages was done and the creative industry was not considered. The value of the creative industry in Nigeria is beyond the country.”
“Burna Boy has done a lot more for the Nigerian national awareness than any ambassador that have been posted to America, the UK or any other place. So Nigerian artists are creating national awareness and making other countries to know about us than any ambassador would have done.”
