Sarkodie Clarifies Lyrics Of New Song ‘Brag’

By Oluwarantimi Oludase

Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie has come out to clarify the lyrics of his new song ‘Brag’ which insinuated that he was shading Nigerian stars, Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy.

Recall that the rapper recently released a new song ‘Brag,’ and the lyrics was about how he has been in the music industry before them, which has sparked serious controversy on social media, as his reference to Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy got on the bad side of Nigerians and this has led to the release of diss tracks between Davido's signee, Dremo and the rapper's signee, Lyrical Joe.

The Ghanaian rapper has now come out to clarify the issue, as he stated that he was not being disrespectful or throwing shades at the Nigerian stars, he was only stating that he had been in the music industry a long time before they came through which is true.

The rapper elucidated on it in an interview with RODE, that he was not a fan of shades and besides, the Nigerian artistes he mentioned are not rappers, so it's not possible that he would be shading them.

He said:
“Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido would never think I want to jab them because if I want to jab somebody, it has to be rappers. They are not rappers.

I am just talking to rappers about how long I’ve been there and who else is best to use as reverence? Everybody knows Wizkid, Burna Boy, Black Sheriff, Asake and Davido. And it’s true that I was in the industry before they all came in. It’s just references of how long I’ve been there. It’s not throwing jabs at anybody. These are incredible, amazing artists.”
