How I Predicted Wizkid’s Phenomenal Musical Career – Peter Okoye
In a recent episode of The 77 Podcast, Peter Okoye, also known as Mr. P, revealed the role he played in the early days of Wizkid's career. The popular musician and half of the P-Square music duo stated that he had high hopes for Wizkid when he was signed to Banky W's EME Records as an up-and-coming talent.
During the podcast, Mr. P and his twin brother, Paul, were guests, and they discussed various topics, including the Nigerian music industry. Mr. P's revelation about Wizkid's early career has generated significant attention from fans and music enthusiasts.
Wizkid, who has since become a Grammy-winning superstar, was signed to EME Records in 2009 and released his debut album, "Superstar," in 2011. The album was a commercial success and established Wizkid as one of Nigeria's top musicians.
Mr P said, “We [P-Square] were never the type of artist that looked down on anybody. If you remember, there was a video that went viral where it was P-Square concert and Wizkid was opening for us. So, they [reporters] kept on interviewing only P-Square and we were like, okay, guys, hold on. What about him? They said… I said no, this guy is going to take over tomorrow.”
