Gangs Of Lagos: Eyo Is Not A Criminal Organization - Nigerian Rapper, Vector Tackles Filmmaker.
Vector, a Nigerian rapper also known as Ogunmefun Olanrewaju, has expressed his dissatisfaction with how the Eyo Masquerade was portrayed in the popular movie 'Gangs of Lagos'. The film, directed by Jade Osiberu and featuring notable actors such as Tobi Bakre, Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Chike Osebuka, Chioma Akpotha, and Iyabo Ojo, has gained significant attention since its release on April 7, 2023, and has become popular in many countries.
The film tells the story of criminal activities on Lagos Island in Lagos State, and it features the sacred Eyo Masquerade as part of the elements used to tell the story. However, Vector, who hails from Lafiaji in Lagos Island, believes that the movie would still have been great even if the Eyo was not used in the way it was depicted in the film.
On Wednesday, Vector took to his Instagram to enlighten the public about the Eyo Masquerade. He explained that the masquerade is known for promoting peace and prosperity, and the way it was depicted in the film did not accurately represent its true nature.
