Eyelashes have become a must-have for every woman, the key to creating natural and beautiful lashes is in learning the tricks of the trade, and this includes knowing where to use false lashes amongst other things that I will reveal in this article.

Ladies, it is possible to get that red carpet look that we see on the TV and inside glossies, and believe me when I say that eyelashes are very significant in achieving this look. Hang in there, while I dispense my tricks of the trade:

Types and textures of false lashes
False lashes come in two types of textures they are :

Original: These are natural, and as such its use will give the most natural look, because of its flexible nature, it has the ability to assume any desired form.

Synthetic: These are the opposite of the original ones.

The types they come in are:

Individual strands: These are single lashes that are fixed individually.
Stick-on: As the name implies, these are lashes that are simply stuck on, as they are made ready to wear.

Colours

False lashes come in various colours, but black the most used or purchased as it fits and blends with the colour of your normal lashes. Looking flashy and all different is not a bad idea for occasions with green, white, Orange e.t.c
The tools you will need are:

Lashes

Tweezers
Glue : Glue comes in different colour, sizes ,texture and kind, these serves as an attachment to the eyelashes and to your placement zone

Comb
Tip Applicator/Cotton swab : Tip applicator/Cotton bud is to erase spillage from the glue.
Water: Water on your finger tip is used to put together the glue and the lashes.
Scissors: Scissors is used to cut to your desired shape if only needed
Curler: Curler is used to curling your lashes if false lashes are not curly enough.

Fixing individual false lashes
Fixing position could either be on the top of the eyelid, the bottom or in between.
Comb the lashes; this is usually done when there is mascara coated on the lashes, combing out helps soften the lashes.
Pick the individual lashes with the help of the tweezers, dip in a little glue and place on the desired part.

Fixing stick on lashes
Clean your eyelid with a cotton swab

Just peel off & stick!
Comb the lashes out, for the reasons referred to earlier
Glue on base on the rim of the lashes before attaching it to your lower or your top lash lid. Note: Depending on the brand of lashes you get, it usually comes with detachable glue or tape

For reuse stick the refill tape to the eyelashes.
Its advisable to go for a non toxic lashes.
Now we are looking all glammed up, it would be nice to know how we can maintain this look without having to go through all that I have mentioned above in a short time.

Maintenance for both individual and stick-on lashes
Avoid excess glue as this attracts dirt and makes lashes look too conspicuous, and in essence noticeably fake.( Except you are trying to cause some drama, or making a statement on the runway for instance)
Try not to spill eyeshadow on the lashes, as it makes it look cakey.
You can take chill pill on the mascara, as they will drag the lashes and weaken glue, and in essence shorten the life span. (The lashes look fantastic without mascara anyways…)
Hold on to artificial lashes and your lashes together while having your bath for 30sec, this is very important to keep lashes long-lasting.
Apply Vaseline 2wice in a week, as these polishes the lashes and leaves on it a shinning effect.
