Award-winning actor, O.C Ukeje, showed the romantic side of his life in a new movie, “North East”, breaking cultural and religious barriers to fall in love with a Northeast damsel.

The film which earned a standing ovation from the audience after premièring last Friday, at the Genesis Deluxe Cinemas, Victoria Island, Lagos, saw OC Ukeje(Emeka), taking his act to the topnotch.

As an Igbo Christian physiotherapist, the actor embarks on a romantic relationship with one of his patients, who is a Hausa Muslim.

He faces vehement opposition on the basis of religion and tribe from her father, but at the end of it all, love prevailed against reason as he marries her.

The movie opens a new discourse on the much discouraged inter- tribal marriage and went a step further to emphasize on the unity of diversity of the country.

The film also features stellar performances from Ini Dima Okojie, Gbenga Titiloye and the adorable Carol King with star appearances by Saeed Funky Mallam, filmmaker Belinda Yanda Agedah, Tope Sadiq, Alex Ayalogu and RnB singer,Capital F.E.M.I among others.

Produced and Directed by Muyiwa Aluko North East opens in cinemas nationwide on the 24th of June.

The film reveals another side of OC Ukeje that is unknown to her fans.

But after all, it’s about make-believe and OC Ukeje had to apologise to his mum who accompanied him to the cinema to see the movie that he was only acting.

A model and musician, OC Ukeje came into prominence after winning the Amstel Malta Box Office reality show.

His first screen appearance was in “White Waters.”

He also featured in “Black November” by Jeta Amata, and was cast in the award winning South African movie “Ayanda.”
