Burgeoning screen actress, Amaka Iruobe gave a tip of what the future holds for her career when she acted in Tinsel, and thereafter she played a role in Funke Akindele's Jennifer's Diary. Currently, she is headlining Dabby Chimere's television series, Lies And Secret alongside notable acts in Nollywood with a sub-major role. Better described as a focused person, in this interview, she speaks on issues concerning her career and life.

Why did you choose acting?

I didn't choose acting, but it chose me.

Can you tell us how it all started?

After I graduated from my secondary school, it all started for me. Though the first movie I acted never came out, as I didn't get to hear about it after the shoot. Then, years later, I went for Mnet's Tinsel audition, and I was picked. And that was how the journey continued for me.

When you joined the Nollywood industry, were you sexually harassed?

No, I wasn't.

How about the sex for role issue that is looming the industry of today?

Well I hear a lot of people talk about sex for a role. But, I can't say anything about that yet, maybe till I come across one. I can only speak for the one I've experienced though.

What movie will you rate as being challenging to you?

All my roles in movies were challenging because I have to totally get into the character. But I love the challenge that comes with it. Without such challenge, I don't think the best will be out.

What motivates you?

God is my first motivation.

How do you manage your male fans?

It's not been easy; but I thank God for His wisdom.

You're currently doing a television series, how is it helping your acting career?

I'm adding it to my portfolio of acting. And it would definitely increase my fan base. You just need to watch out for Lies And Secret; it's a television series that is for the first time produced by Dabby Chimere. I love the character I'm playing, and I know my fans will love it too.

What's your most embarrassing moment like?

It's actually a funny one. Well, it was when I saw a guy that looked like my friend I haven't seen in years; I was so excited that I ran to hug him, but when he turned and faced me, I realized it wasn't him. And then, it was too late as I have hugged him.

What can't you let go in your everyday life?

After God, I think the next thing is my phone. Very funny!

You have regrets?

For now, I really don't have any regret. Life is still on.

If you have an opportunity to change something, what would it be?

This is rather a personal question, and I'd rather not answer.

What can attract you to a male?

First, I think it's a guy with a neatly cut beards, his body, his style and sense of humor.

What are your career plans for the next two years?

No comment yet, but just stay glued to your screen and expect more of me.

Do you have words of advice for the up and comings?

I will always have to say that they should stay focused and don't give up. It's not a smooth ride, but definitely, they will get to their destination. Also, keep praying, and hear first from God.
