Come Saturday, October 3, 2015, Kehinde Oshadipe of the Oshadipe Twins will lead other celebrities in a walk to create awareness for a deadly disease called Lupus, which claimed the life of her twin sister, Taiwo Oshadipe in 2014.

Kehinde, in an exclusive interview with Nollywoodgists.com on Monday, explained that she decided to mark the one year remembrance of her sister's death by raising an awareness for the disease, which presently has no cure.

She told Nollywoodgists.com that other celebrities to be expected on that day include Funke Akindele, Mercy Aigbe, Nikki Laoye and many others.

“Not until Taiwo had Lupus, we have never heard of anything like that before. When we were told at the hospital that she had Lupus, we thought she would be fine until the disease took her life.

“I just took it upon myself to create awareness for this disease because if it can kill Taiwo, it can as well kill any other person. While at the hospital, I came across others suffering from the disease. To do a test for the disease alone costs over N200,000, without drugs to manage it and the treatment.

I learnt at least one person is diagnosed of Lupus daily and most of them are young people. I feel the need to bring this disease to fore because even till now, when I say it, some people still ask me what it is.

“I have T-shirts and face caps and my friends, celebrity guests, family and friends including some fans have decided to come out with me to converge at Hall 1 at LTV 8, Alausa, Ikeja and talk a walk to the Ministry of Health in Alausa, where we will meet with the Permanent Secretary.

“Before then, on that day, there would be a brief seminar on Lupus disease at LTV 8 from a medical expert. I expect everyone to join us in this campaign,” Kehinde told Nollywoodgists.com.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, September 16, Kehinde and her team will be at the General Hospital in Ikeja, Lagos to visits patients suffering from the deadly disease.

At the moment, the cause of Lupus is not known and has no cure, but can be managed. It is said that is may be hereditary. According to researchers, the environment, sunlight, stress, and certain medicines may trigger symptoms in some people.
