Many years ago, one set of people that might never showcase pretty ladies as wives are comedians. This was because most of them were seen as never do wells. In fact, any beautiful lady that dared agree to marry a jester would be a source of ridicule in the community.

Back then, ladies wanted to 'roll with' bankers, oil and gas workers, doctors, and other professionals with good incomes.

But today, that has changed. In fact, at the moment, some of the most charming ladies in the society scramble to be called comedians' wives. Bankers no longer rule the game like before likewise the so-called oil and gas workers and their counterparts in the telecommunication business.

Now, what has changed over the years, 'pocket'? Yes, you are right if you say so. Like the popular saying, if monkeys can throw money at women, they would be called 'honey', 'sweetie', 'darling' and other romantic names in this world.

You don't have to go far to see examples of such in Nigeria. Money is the language most pretty babes understand very well.

In the comedy world in Nigeria today, Ali Baba is the acclaimed king. He commands respect in the business among his other colleagues. His views are regarded as those from the 'oracle' because of his bluntness.

The humour merchant has been able to show his leadership skills in the home and business fronts and that is another reason many love him dearly. His wife, Mary Akporobomerere, who is the Managing Director of Enterprise Bank, is also respected by other comedians, who adore her just like many Christians adore the wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E.A Adeboye, Foluke fondly called Mummy G.O.

Few months ago, Ali Baba clocked 50 and activities were put in place to celebrate the comedy icon in Nigeria.

During a programme, 'Brunch With Tosyn,' where Ali Baba mentored some creative minds, he disclosed how he made his brand viable.

According to the funny man, some wives of Nigerian comedians don't have jobs, but they live off their husbands.

He noted that what their husbands make is just enough to keep them flying high and their wives living lavish lifestyles.

Hear what he said, “There are quite a number of Nigerian comedians whose wives do not have jobs but they still live large.”

He made this statement while comparing what Nigerian actors and comedians earn as incomes. He said, “A popular comedian would have performed at six to eight different shows in a month before a Nollywood actor wraps up shooting on set of a movie,” apparently saying that an average Nigerian comedian could earn as much as times six of what an actor earns in a month.
