I’m not a Racist as My Daughter’s Happiness is Important to Me...Yeni Kuti

Afro Beat Legend, Fela Kuti's first daughter, Yeni Kuti, some weeks ago gave out her daughter, Rolari's hand in marriage to British man, Benedict Jacka, which took place at the African Shrine, in Lagos.

The event had several guests in attendance both family and friends far and near all to make merry with the couple as they both agree to love each other.

Many tongues would have been waging on why Yeni did not allow her daughter to marry a Nigerian but went for a foreigner.

To clear the all doubts, Yeni in a recent interview with Encomium, disclosed that her daughter's happiness is what matters to her most and not about the skin colour of the person involved.

She explained that she is not a racist since she did not chose the man for her daughter but a choice which she made willingly and the family only rejoiced with her.

According to her, “I am not a racist. I look at all people as equal. That is who she fell in love with. That is who she loves to marry. Her happiness is paramount to me. I am not after my own happiness, but hers. That is who makes me happy. I don't see the colour.”

After giving out her daughter in the traditional way, Yeni is set to travel to the United Kingdom for her daughter's white wedding which is schedule to take place on August 15, 2015.
