I’m Not Ready To Marry Second Wife—Filmmaker, Ikechukwu Onyeka

Nollywood actor and producer, Ikechukwu Onyeka, has disclosed that his growing up in a remote environment such as Amukoko, a slum between Ajegunle and Ijora in Lagos state, helped shape who he is now.

Onyeka stated that going into acting was never his plan, disclosing that he was once a motorcycle rider at Surulere area of the state. He disclosed further he joined acting after having a verbal confrontation with one Charles Ugbonma, who later gave him his card after they settled their quarrel.

According to him, in an interview with Sun Newspaper, “I would say I am a child of circumstance here. I was an Okada rider at Surulere and one day, I had an encounter with one Charles Ugbonma. An argument ensued between us and it got to a point we settled our quarrel.

“He just told me 'You speak good English. Why are you not into acting?' He gave me an address where I could meet him. I searched out the address and it turned out to be a particular hotel. Along the line, something caught my interest.

“I saw people I only see on screen like Zack Orji, Eucharia Anunobi and the likes. I felt like being like these people and that turned out to be the beginning of my journey in the movie industry.”

Despite now having a successful career, the filmmaker said he still create time for his family, like driving his wife to the market and taking the kids to school.

He also told said, “I am married and I have three lovely kids. I am not planning to have a second wife. Any time I am around, I remain indoors, take the kids to school and even drive my wife to the market,” he further told Sun newspaper.
