Iyana Ipaja Market Enveloped By Tanker Fire, Governor Visits Scene
Several vehicles and shops were on Tuesday morning razed after a tanker carrying petrol fell from a bridge in Iyana Ipaja area of Lagos State.
Nollywoodgists.com leant that the tanker exploded as it crashed on the ground, spilling its content, which caught fire immediately. The fire destroyed vehicles, shops and houses in the vicinity, but no life was lost.
An eyewitness, Abiodun Omodara, disclosed that the incident caused heavy traffic on the popular Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. Officials of the Lagos State Fire Service have since put off the fire.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has visited scene of the incident. Ambode was at Iyana Ipaja on Tuesday afternoon to have first hand assessment of the incident.
He blamed attributed such frequent tanker explosions to carelessness and indiscipline on the part of the drivers.
