Hip hop and Fuji genres of music are two of the prominent music styles in Nigeria and have also produced superstars.

While one of the two genres, hip hop, is believed to appeal to the young generation, the other, Fuji, is thought to be the music of touts and never-to-do-well from South West of Nigeria.

But one of the prominent Fuji acts, Remi Aluko, has revealed that the hip hop genre is not for decent people. He said this in an interview with National Mirror.

Aluko spoke about his understanding of the genre that has put Nigeria on international landmarks with the likes of Ice Prince, Wizkid, 2face, Dare, Mode 9, Vector, Tiwa Savage, Seyi Shey side by side with Jay Z, Rick Ross, Akon.

Remi Aluko said, "Let me tell you the truth. Fuji music has really been brought up by the riff-raffs and thugs and we can never, never run away from them. Even hip-hop is not for a decent person, if you want to say the truth."

He further said that Fuji music had always been the kind of music which intends to spread correctional message in the society.

"The only thing we need to do with the music we sing is to sing songs to make them change the way they behave and from bad to good because we too, before we grew up, our forefathers have been singing this Fuji," Remi added.
