On Monday, the Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, sponsored an advertorial on the front page of The Punch newspaper, which has set the social media ablaze. Most Nigerians have expressed their thoughts known on the piece.

The advert was to seek votes for candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the February 14 presidential election, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, taking a jibe at some former Heads of State that died in office.

The presidential candidate of the opposition party, the All Peoples Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari also comes from that region. The advert was trying to indicate that what happened to the late Nigerian leaders might happen to Buhari if he is elected.

The reactions of most Nigerians frowned at how low the PDP and Fayose would go to press home their points all in the name of politics, even wishing death to their fellow human being.

@Saratu: I cannot believe someone thought this is a good idea

@DOlusegun: This is the lowest

@TexTheLaw: Ayo Fayose is responsible for this? Even for someone so deprived of calibre as he is…gosh

?@4eyedmonk: The PDP, as shown by Fayose's advertorial about Buhari's impending death is doing all it can to incite violence

@Euphoria9ja: I don't expect the APC camp to let Fayose/ the GEJ campaign team get away with that, please. Enough is enough

?@toluogunlesi: I commiserate with Ekiti people. May God forgive whatever sins brought Fayose upon your heads

?@PrinceKunle19: What Fayose did on the front page of the Punch today shows that the PDP is no longer a political party to reckon with

@eDante_: Do you realize some Nigerians will get convinced by that Fayose campaign ad?

@xedusa: Fayose has spoiled show for the PDP with that advert. PDP has obviously lost the north now

@iamrilwan: Fayose managed to pull off the most irritating advert yet. Bad bad publicity, even for PDP

@akin_makinde: This MEN… aint helping this man! At alllllllllllll!!!!! What an advert! Haba! #punch

@4eyedmonk: The national security ramifications of Fayose's advert, Lord! That guy wants to set this country on fire for what please? …GEJ and GMB signed a pact to keep the 2015 election violence free. Fayose's advert in the Punch today is a breach of that pact.

@jay_okhai: Seriously Messrs Punch Newspapers, there are some things greater than monetary gain; COMMON SENSE and ETHICS are just a couple of them…smh

@HLemchi: @APCNigeria @Inzaghi1 I ran to the bathroom to puke when I saw Ayo Fayose's advert this morning. Is this how low we can go cos of politics.

@nnamdianekwe: PDP presidential campaign organization should dissociate themselves from the Fayose advert. It's immoral and repugnant,” some of the comments on Twitter read.
