Yoruba Movie Industry More Accommodating Than Nollywood—Regina Chukwu
The Yoruba and English speaking industries are the two major sectors in the Nigerian film industry.
While there have been a number of actors in the core movie industry in Nigeria called Nollywood that have crossed over to the Yoruba sector, such cannot be said of Yoruba actors in Nollywood.
In recent times, only Funke Akindele and Eniola Badmus have been successful in Nollywood after moving from the Yoruba film industry, after being popular in Yoruba movies.
Regina Chukwu, who some would have expected to be active in Nollywood, has made a name for herself in the Yoruba movie industry.
According to her, the Yoruba film industry is more accommodating than Nollywood. She pointed out that apart from that, the sector of the industry does not discriminate like the core Nollywood. To her, she is comfortable in the Yoruba movie industry.
Regina Chukwu started her acting career in 2009, when she acted her first movie 'Edaro', and has since then featured in several movies.
