Exclusive: I Won’t Help Any Artistes Again—D’Tunes Reveals

Recently, a report went viral claiming Nigerian music producer, Doyin Adesanya aka D'Tunes, used someone else's beat for the production of Sean Tizzle's hit song, 'Gentleman'.

In an exclusive chat with Nollywoodgists.com, the handsome and gentle beat maker admitted knowing the artiste making the allegation, Portah, a student of Lead City University, but stressed that he never stole his beat as claimed.

He explained that, “I invited him to my studio because a friend of mine wanted to start a label and was looking for an artiste to sign. He's a good artiste, so I suggested him. But my friend didn't know him, I sent him the tracks he had released previously and he wanted to hear more, that is why I invited him to my studio. He dropped some songs and I mailed them to my friend and the rest is history.”

D'Tunes further explained that the beat he produced for Sean Tizzle's 'Gentleman' has no correlation with any of the beats in Portah's song, adding that he is not in a business of stealing people's intellectual properties.

The music producer also said that he receives calls, text, mails and other notifications from artistes looking for attention.

“You can imagine the amount of up and coming artistes that give me their songs to listen to, to assist their career anyway I can. But since that incident happened, I have told my team I don't want to see anyone anymore. No more Mr. nice guy.”

Meanwhile, efforts made to reach the singer, Portah, was not fruitful as his two phone numbers were not going through when we tried to reach him for comments.

In another development, D'Tunes has called the attention of his fans to some unscrupulous elements using his name to dupe some of them (fans). He disclosed that his real Facebook account is 'Doyin D'Tunes Adesanya."
