Delta State-born singer, Joshua Iniyezo, popularly known as Solidstar, has thrown his full weight behind fight against sexual molestation in the society. The artiste expressed his unflinching for the cause, which he commended. Solidstar, worried over the rising incidents of rape in the country, particularly child sexual abuse, established the 'Solidstar RApe Campaign' with particular interest in schools.

“I want to use my fame and fortune to put the needs of others before mine and right the wrongs of our society, especially the rising trend of rApe. That's what gave birth to this anti-rApe initiative, Solidstar RApe Campaign,” the musician disclosed.

He noted that he would be joining hands with other celebrities to campaign against the cankerworm, which has gradually eaten deep into the society.

In achieving this venture, 'the Solidstar RApe Campaign', in collaboration with his record label, Achievas Music, has concluded plans to begin visitations to schools in Nigeria and also to distribute free books on rApe to students with the aim of creating awareness for the menace.

The anti-rApe project is targeted at pupils in private and government-owned schools, including tertiary institutions.

During the visits, awareness would be raised via workshops, books and materials on rApe awareness.

Also, the highly publicised guidebook on RApe, 'Breaking the Silence', will be distributed free of charge to the students.

The foreword of the book was written by the Chairman of House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa and it was endorsed by Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, Deputy Governor of Lagos State.

Speaking on this development, the author of 'Breaking the Silence', Esther Ijewere-Kalejaye, noted that, “The handbook will educate and sensitize the society on sexual abuse, the importance of reporting rape cases, where to get help, who to talk to, help lines to call and other vital information on rApe and sexual abuse. The book is a 'must have' for everyone; parents, guardians, teachers, students (secondary schools and tertiary institutions). I welcome this great initiative by Solidstar.”
