UNVEILING NAIJA MOST PROMISING ACT, MARTYN GREAT
Martins Italume is a native of Estako West, Edo State but was born in Lagos. He believes he's great and his fans know he sings greatly too so they renamed him Martyn Great. Ever since his music baptism in 2004 where he discovered himself musically, he has never, for once, looked back.
Although he's had a passion for music since childhood, it was not until 2006 that his career in music became an option when he graced the stage at Embrace It, a musical event held to orientate students all over the nation in Nigeria.. His recent streak of performances across Nigeria such as Musicians Against Crime Concert, 2007, Valentine Vaudeville Show, organized by the Rich Rockers Entertainment respectively and a Media Award Nite, has given him some sort of relevance on the Nigerian R&B scene. It is therefore not surprising that some people are already touting him as the next big thing to take over from his cotemporaries like 2face, D'banj, Face and others.
Little wonder, his 17:59 single, removed from his 10-track chart-buster album, which has become a toast of all raves in major events, radio houses and nightclubs in Nigeria, has earned him the name Mr. 17:59.
Martyn Great studied Statistics from the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, after his OND programme, he worked briefly for Intercontinental Bank, one of the reputable financial institutions in Nigeria till his music instinct took control of him and he resigned honourably. Right now, the highly appreciated Martyn Great musical effort, 17:59 is out to prove his sense of versatility and smooth vocal range to the entire music lovers in and out of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, plans are far advanced to release his 10-track debut album entitled “New Born” under the label of Great Remmy headed by Collins St. Remmy. So let's keep our fingers crossed for the anticipated album.
