Nigeria's Nollywood industry is said to be the third most vibrant entertainment industry in the world. This has to do with the contents which have been produced into the market both local and international.

One thing we notice is that the industry has forgotten about the norms , values and culture of the country. The industry is under what could be termed as “cultural imperialism.” This is the acceptance or trying to emulate the western culture thereby neglecting our own.

We could remember movies like “Things fall apart,” “Oleku” and recently released movie “Ipaye,” and other prominent movies which have been able to make great impact. All this movies to a large extent were able to drive home apart in explaining the true African culture. In our so-called contemporary world, we are now seeing movies that are trying to depict foreign culture without passing any message to the youths. We now see more of violence, crimes, and various kinds of ungodly scenes.

NOLLYWOOD is supposed to be the pride of Nigeria and Africa and a medium through which the country's image is better designed and portrayed as a place with people of peace, love, unity, honesty and as a matter of fact, a place where morality reigns while obscenity is highly despised. But what seems to have become of Nollywood in recent times, truly leaves much to be desired in this regard.

Right now, Nollywood is a place where nudity and all manners of vices trend without a moral lesson at the end of the movie. The Censors Board and other regulatory bodies in the industry have to live up to expectations. They have to sit up and help reclaim our moral values from total collapse.

Today in the Nollywood industry, we now see actors walking half naked in a movie set all in the name of dressing, various ungodly scenes are shot and a lot of foreign culture ethics are now been introduced in Nollywood and as such, no more moral values.
NOLLYWOOD may be filled with mediocres and very untalented people who feel that all there is to acting is being unnecessarily controversial, nudity, bleaching, acquiring multiple tattoos and body piercing but there are still many actors in Nollywood that we are proud of.
